Changing computers
Transfer your licence and your sites to a new Mac or PC, without losing anything.
1. Back up your sites
On the old computer, for each site:
- Open the site.
- On the Project screen, click Backups.
- Click Back up now and save the file to a USB stick, a drive or a shared folder. You can Password-protect the backup.
The backup contains the whole site: pages, products, media and theme.
2. Release your licence
Still on the old computer, open the License screen and click Deactivate. Confirm: the licence is released and can be reactivated with the same key on another computer.
Two computers per licence
A licence is used on two computers, not at the same time. Deactivate on one and then Activate on the other is free, as many times as you like. If the old computer is no longer available and the licence is already active on two computers, activate it on the new one anyway: TOWeb offers Use it here, which, after confirmation, deactivates it on whichever of the two was used least recently. This is a transfer, allowed 3 times per 12-month period; beyond that, write to support.
3. Install TOWeb on the new computer
- Install TOWeb 15.
- Open the License screen, paste your key under Already have a key? and click Activate.
4. Restore your sites
- On the Sites screen, click Restore a backup… and choose the file.
- Enter the password if the backup is protected, then click Restore.
- Choose where to restore the site, then open it from the home screen.
5. Re-enter your passwords
For security, saved passwords (FTP or SFTP connection, AI keys) are encrypted for the computer that saved them. On the new computer, TOWeb simply asks you to enter them again.
